Qualifications
If you are…
- Currently a Georgia Association of Physician Assistants (GAPA) member (or applicant),
- A PA student of an ARC-PA Accredited Program,
- Have successfully completed 2 semesters of the didactic year of your PA program by May 31 at an accredited PA Program and…
- Are able to submit a set of program grades with the application
you may be eligible to receive a GAPA scholarship.
Scholarship entries are accepted between March 1 – June 30. You may apply online or by mail. Two award recipients per school will receive a $1,000 scholarship and will be notified by August 1.

Butch Dent Scholarship
GAPA is proud to announce the F.C. Butch Dent Memorial Scholarship which will be awarded to a student enrolled in one of Georgia’s PA programs. The scholarship is funded by his family in honor of Butch who passed away last year. A matching contribution will be made by Athens Orthopedic Clinic, Butch’s former employer.
Selection Criteria:
- Final year of Physician Assistant school
- 3.2 GPA minimum
- Committed to working as a PA in the State of GA
- Emphasis in Orthopedics or Family Practice in a Rural area will be given top priority
- Member of GAPA
- Completion of essay
- The award will be presented to the winner in the form of a check to be used to pay for tuition and/or books, or as payment on a student loan.
Deadline of applicant submission is June 1.
