Dear Member,

I am Kate McIntosh, your GAPA president. I have been a PA for almost 20 years. Like you, I am a practicing PA. I currently work full time in Orthopaedic Surgery. I have been a member of GAPA since I was a PA student. I think membership in our state organization is an important aspect of being a PA. Most of the laws that govern us are at the state level. GAPA is your voice and we must participate in making our profession better.

What is GAPA and what does it do for me?

GAPA is your state organization. There are currently over 5,000 licensed PAs in the state of Georgia.

We have a legislative committee and a paid legislative consultant working on your behalf all year long, not just when the Georgia Legislative session is open. We work with a Political Action Committee (PAC) to accept donations to help further our work on the legislative side.

Over the past years, GAPA and our legislative team have updated and modernized the PA Act in Georgia. We are working to level the playing field with job descriptions, chart review requirements and supervision with the APN. We continue to pursue restoring the Schedule II prescribing authority.

Education and CME – Our summer conference is one of the top CME conferences in the US. Discounts are available to members for the conference.

Networking – GAPA has Regional contacts to coordinate informational dinners, CME opportunities and time to network with your peers.

Who is GAPA?

You and your colleagues are GAPA.

  • Supporting and empowering each other to reach maximum goals, providing a voice for Georgia PAs, and legislation to protect the rights to practice.
  • Providing leadership opportunities within the state on a broad range of levels.
  • Providing quality educational experiences through board review courses, and deep-dive tracks into the specialties you wish to become more proficient.

GAPA does not exist without YOU and your support. Every member and every dollar makes a difference in our organization and profession. I invite you to read member stories on our website at Check out our Facebook page.

We will all be stronger if we have YOU!

P.S.  I am challenging every active member to refer a colleague who has not been a member within the past three years to join GAPA.  When they join, you will both receive a check for $25. Just simply add your GAPA Member ID and the Colleagues name on your renewal form.

Kate McIntosh, PA-C, MPAS
GAPA President 2019-2020
