About GAPA

President’s Message

Thank you for allowing me to serve as president of one of the strongest state associations representing the PA profession.

I want to personally thank Tim Dare and the rest of the leadership for their commitment to GAPA, and all the hard work that they have put in over the years. GAPA continues to grow in numbers, and with numbers comes strength.

Please take the time to meet your Board of Directors. These men and women are made up of students, retirees, active clinicians,  teachers and program directors. They remain passionate and committed to the PA profession.  With them the future looks very bright.

This is going to be an exciting year for GAPA, as we continue to work on improvements in the PA Practice Act in Georgia. We look forward to working with AAPA and our fellow state chapters to continue our legislative endeavors. We are continuing to watch closely the discussions between the AAPA and NCCPA.

I encourage each of you to personally meet with your local legislators to discuss your role in your profession and your concerns. Should you need assistance with talking points, feel free to contact myself or our LGA Committee Members. You can also find some of this information in the members only section underLegislative Blog.

I want to personally reach out to each member and encourage you to take a closer look at how you may be able to serve your fellow PAs as a committee member, committee chair, or on the BOD. No job is too small and everyone plays a vital role in our continued growth.

I want to thank the Conference Planning Committee on their dedication and hard work. This summer conference far exceeded our expectations. On that note our Summer conference will be held in Hilton Head Island, SC in July. I look forward to seeing familiar faces, and meeting new friends, in 2017!

Thank you for your dedication to the GAPA family! I look forward to a great year with you.

John Filson, PA-C
GAPA President 2016 – 2017
