About GAPA

President’s Message

Welcome to the official GAPA website. We’re glad you’re here and exploring everything GAPA has to offer.

I am honored to serve as your President. GAPA has accomplished a lot in the last year, and I look forward to a great year ahead.

The Legislative and Governmental Affairs Committee and our Legislative Consultant listen to the concerns of Georgia PAs and work with Georgia PAs to improve legislative advocacy for the PA profession. In the last year, the Legislative and Governmental Affairs Committee and our Legislative Consultant participated in the Georgia Senate Study Committee on Evaluating and Simplifying Physician Oversight of PAs and APRNs. This gave rise to Senate Bill (SB) 321 to improve PA practice flexibility and access to healthcare by PAs. SB 321 includes two of the six key elements of the AAPA Modern PA Practice Act. In the 2020 Georgia General Assembly, SB 321 passed in the Senate and in the House. GAPA also played an important role in enhancing the Georgia Emergency Rules for PAs during the recent Coronavirus global pandemic.

GAPA continues to support elected Delegates to represent Georgia PAs at the 2020 AAPA House of Delegates Meeting.

The Conference Planning Committee and our Management team eagerly prepare to provide PAs with a topnotch annual CME conference. Conference attendees experience incredible speakers and thorough workshops, have opportunities to connect and network with other PAs, and enjoy a luxurious and family friendly golf and beach resort. The 2020 GAPA CME Conference will be held in sunny Sandestin, Florida on September 5-9, 2020.

Georgia PA students are the future of the PA profession. GAPA strives to enrich their education and training. The Student Affairs Committee hosts an informative Student Track that also includes the thought-provoking Student Challenge Bowl and the competitive Student Beach Volleyball Tournament at the annual GAPA CME conference.

GAPA relies on the membership of Georgia PAs to serve the PA profession in so many ways. Are you currently a GAPA member? If not, it is crucial that you join now. I challenge you to become a GAPA member and encourage your colleagues to do the same.
