GAPA Board of Directors Nominations will open on March 15, 2026. All elections material must be received by April 15, 2026. Please see timeline below for more info.
You must be a GAPA member in order to run for the positions. The leadership year begins on July 15, 2026. The Board meets 4-6 times per year. Board meetings are held virtually and in person, dependent on the needs of GAPA. Meeting calendar for 2026-2027 is pending and is dependent on Board member availability. All Board members are required to attend at least half of the Board meetings, though attendance at all meetings is strongly encouraged.

Open 2026 Board of Directors Positions – see below for explanation of responsibilities
The President, Secretary, Treasurer, President-Elect and Immediate Past President must be and remain Fellow members of the AAPA during their term of office.
President-Elect
When serving in place of the President, the individual shall assume all powers, duties, responsibilities, and privileges of the President. If the President leaves the chair during a Board meeting for the purpose of discussion, this individual shall preside over the meeting. They shall serve as a member of the Executive Board. Additionally, they shall coordinate the activities of the Executive Board Members and provide assistance, information, and resources to support their objectives. They shall also provide regular reports to the Board regarding regional network and outreach programs.
Secretary
The term of office shall be two years. The individual shall be responsible for the distribution of all Association communications. Along with the President, they shall serve as a legal representative of the Association. They shall act as custodian of all original documents and official records of the Association. The individual shall serve as a member of the Executive Board and as an ex officio member of the Membership Committee. They shall ensure that each new Board member and committee chair receives a copy of the Policy and Procedure Manual. Additionally, they shall present an annual budget to the Board for approval.
Treasurer
The term of office shall be two years. The individual shall have overall responsibility for developing the Association’s annual budget and for working with individuals submitting annual budget requests. They shall present financial reports to the Board at regularly scheduled meetings and shall file the Association’s annual tax return. The individual shall ensure compliance with all rules and regulations governing not-for-profit financial operations in the state of Georgia. They shall serve as a member of the Finance Committee and function as a member of the Executive Board. The individual shall submit the proposed annual budget for Board approval and shall arrange for an external review of all GAPA financial records. The results of this review shall be delivered to the Board at the first Board meeting of the calendar year.
Immediate Past President
Shall serve as Chair of the Past Presidents’ Committee. The individual shall perform such duties as may be assigned by the President or the Board. They shall function as a member of the Executive Board and shall submit an annual budget for Board approval.
Board Member at Large
The term of office shall be two years. Shall have overall responsibility for representing the concerns of the general membership and ensuring the fiduciary viability of the Association. The individual shall serve as a Board Advisor to a Standing Committee, as determined by the President. They shall remain informed on all items of business to come before the Board for discussion and consideration.
Delegates to the American Academy of PAs House of Delegates (6 open seats)
Delegates will serve for two years. They shall perform such duties as may be assigned by the Chief Delegate. All delegate positions are required to attend the AAPA HOD meeting at the annual AAPA conference.
